Marek obtained his M.Sc. in 2010 from the Warsaw University of Technology. In 2011 he moved to Krakow and started doctoral research in the framework of the project “Molecular Sciences for Medicine” at the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Evaluation of neuroprotective action of nanoencapsulated inhibitors of intracellular biochemical cascades” in December 2015. Prior to joining INL as a research fellow in July 2016, he accomplished 4 months internship in the Nanomedicine & Nanorobotics Lab at the National University of Singapore. At NUS he worked on the development of a gold nanostars platform based on the Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for the detection of Human Enterovirus 71 and Carbapenamase Producing Enterobacteriaceae. As a new member of the Nanochemistry Group at INL he will work on the development of bio-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles and composites, and on synthesis and assembly of thermoelectric nanocrystal ensembles.
