Umesh Prasad Gomes is a Research Fellow in the Laboratory for Nanostructured Solar Cells at INL. Dr. Gomes focusses his research in the epitaxial growth and characterization of Chalcopyrite semiconductor materials for solar cell applications.
He has a Ph.D in Condensed Matter Physics from Scuola Normale Superiore, Italy. His research work focussed primarily on the catalyst-free and catalyst assisted growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires. Dr. Gomes has previously worked as a Research Fellow in the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India from 2011-2013 where he worked on MBE growth and characterization of III-V high electron mobility device structures. Prior to that he worked as a software engineer in Cognizant Technology Solutions, India.
