DESCRIPTION

Nanotechnology can produce efficient cost-effective and environmental friendly alternative materials from the standpoints of both resource conservation and environmental monitoring and remediation. Nanotechnological products, processes and applications will contribute significantly to environmental and climate protection by saving raw materials, energy and water as well as by reducing greenhouse gases and hazardous wastes.

We carry out original applied research on environmental nanotechnologies mainly focused on the synthesis, fabrication and use of miniaturized sensors for environmental monitoring, and nanomaterials for the capture of water contaminants.

RESEARCH GROUPS

Safety and quality of water is an issue of growing concern at a global scale. Nanotechnology can provide great potential benefits in water management at different fronts, namely, prevention or mitigation of pollution, treatment and remediation for contaminants and water monitoring.
