DESCRIPTION

The research interests of the group are in the general area of quantitative biology, with the objectives of developing and improving quantitative models, methods, and measurements for biological systems. The ability to provide quantitative descriptions and predictive models has been one of the strong and persistent drivers of progress in physical sciences. Developing and adapting similar approaches to biological systems has been more challenging, but several of the emerging fields, such as systems biology, nanobiotechnology, and biointerfaces, provide natural opportunities for introducing rigorous quantitative methodologies to investigations of biological systems. Current work in the group includes studies of cell mechanics, molecular and cell-nanoparticle biointerfaces, and quantitative bioanalytics.
