Ana Sofia Martins is a Junior Research Fellow at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) Braga, Portugal (2022-Now). She works within the Medical Devices group and her research interests are focused on the development of microfluidic systems for 3D cancer models, including, organ-on-a-chip models. Within INL, she will focus on the development of microfluidic platforms to mimic the tumour microenvironment of cancer and methods for rare cell proliferation.
Ana holds a BSc degree in Biology and Geology (2016-2019, University of Minho) and a Masters in Biophysics and Bionanosystems (2019-2022, University of Minho). She gathers experience in biomaterial and system engineering combined with cellular components for the development of novel applications that ultimately impact patients’ lives. She believes that communication of knowledge and innovation is of the utmost importance and as such, she has disseminated her work in 1 peer-reviewed book chapter and 4 oral and poster presentations.
