Nanodevices
Carole Sousa is a Research Fellow in the Nanodevices Research Group. Her work aims the development of a HCV diagnostic system for viral particles detection using an integrated lab-on chip platform.
Carole graduated in Applied Biology and completed her MSc in Molecular Genetics (2012) from the University of Minho (Portugal). She holds a PhD in Biology (2018) from the University of Luxembourg. Her doctoral research was focused on the understanding of the specific molecular triggers and the subsequent genetic programmes defining microglia under homeostatic, inflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions, using high-throughput single-cell transcriptomics. During her postdoc in Germany, her major focus was the understanding of proper macrophage homeostasis in the brain.
