Clara Ponte joined the Nanochemistry group at INL as a Research Fellow in July 2021. She will be developing paint functional additives based on nanomaterials with UV and infrared reflective properties.
She received her B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry (2018), and M.Sc. degree in Chemistry (2020) at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). During her Master’s dissertation she developed porous adsorbent materials based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), magnetic MOF-based composites and MOF-derived porous carbons, and applied them in water remediation systems.
In July 2020 she participated in a summer school financed by FCT focused on advanced characterization techniques. Afterwards, she joined the group of Prof. João Prior at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), as Research Fellow, developing novel strategies to synthesize silver nanoparticles to be applied in urologic tumours therapy.
