Denis Santos
Research Fellow
Nanodevices
Denis Santos is currently a research fellow in the Nanodevices Group of the Nanoelectronics Engineering Department of INL. His research is currently focused on the development of implantable biosensors for the monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases biomarkers and physiological parameters.
Denis graduated in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro in 2005 and completed his MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2008 from the same university. From 2007 until the end of 2013, Denis was a Research Fellow at the European Organization for Nuclear Research – CERN, Geneva, working on the front-end electronics of the ATLAS detector hadronic calorimeter. In 2018, Denis finished his PhD in Bioengineering from the MIT Portugal Program at the Instituto Superior Técnico and INESC-Microsystems and Nanotechnologies, Lisbon, Portugal. His doctoral research was focused on the design and optimization of microfabricated multi-modal biosensors and their integration in microfluidic Lab-on-a-Chip platforms.
