Nanofabrication for Optoelectronic Applications

João Barbosa is a Research Fellow working with the Nanofabrication for Optoelectronic Applications (NOA) group at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Braga, Portugal. Currently, João is collaborating within the R&D “Baterias 2030” project, where beyond aiding in the collaboration efforts between the dozens of research institutes and commercial companies, he is tasked with bolstering the development of scientific and technological solutions for the local and decentralized production of electrical energy, based on renewable power sources, namely perovskite solar cells (PSCs).

João obtained his M.Sc. degree in Micro and Nanotechnologies Engineering in 2020, at the School of Science and Technology from the NOVA University of Lisbon. For his masters, he developed his master thesis in “Point Contact Structures for Thin Film Solar Cells” at NOA, which received a grade of 19 out of 20. His expertise ranges from advanced cleanroom nanofabrication techniques, such as photolithography, thin film deposition and etching, microscopy and others, to advanced optoelectronic simulations.
