Nanostructured Materials

Rong Sun is a Research Fellow at INL funded by Marie Curie COFUND fellowship. She works at the Department of Advanced Electron Microscopy Imaging and Spectroscopy, within the Nanostructured Materials research group. Her research project involves investigations on the structure-property interplay of low-dimensional materials at the atomic scale employing advanced electron microscopy techniques.

Rong Sun received her PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of Tokyo in Japan (2015) where she worked on the defects and grain boundaries in functional material TiO2. During her PhD, by employing state of the art aberration corrected TEM/STEM imaging and spectroscopy, she studied the atomic structure of the dislocations and grain boundaries in TiO2 and how the defects mediate the electronic property of TiO2.
