Rui Pinto

Research Fellow
Integrated Micro and Nanotechnologies

Rui Pinto is a research fellow in the Integrated Micro and Nanotechnologies group. His work consists of the design, simulation, microfabrication and characterization of MEMS printer heads for use with functional inks.

He received his MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon) in 2014. In the same year, he started working in the field of Micro Electromechanical Systems (MEMS), as a research fellow at INESC MN. In 2020 he received his PhD in Biotechnology and Biosciences from the University of Lisbon, with the thesis entitled Thin-Film Silicon Microelectromechanical Systems for Mass Sensing and Biosensing Applications. During his PhD, he designed, fabricated and characterized dynamic-mode and stress-mode mass sensors and demonstrated the label-free detection of nucleic acids with MEMS sensors integrated in microfluidic systems, using capacitive readout.
