Ali Shojaee

Facility Specialist

Nanophotonics & Bioimaging Facility

​Ali serves as a Facility Specialist at the Nanophotonics & BioImaging Research Facility of INL, bridging the gap between advanced research infrastructure management and impactful scientific discovery. In this role, Ali is responsible for the training, optimization, research, and method development for Raman spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), and other microscopy and spectroscopy techniques.

​Ali earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University under the supervision of Prof. Don A. Lucca. Prior to joining INL, he served as a Senior Analytical Scientist in Advanced Materials Characterization of Bridgestone Americas, as well as an Application Scientist at both Thermo Fisher Scientific and Unchained Labs. He possesses extensive expertise in a wide array of spectroscopy (Raman, FT-IR, photoluminescence, XRF, LIBS) and microscopy (confocal, AFM, SEM) analysis methods. His research has been published in journals, including CarbonScientific ReportsApplied Physics Letters, and the Journal of Materials Science
