Amanda Melo

Postdoctoral Researcher

Pastrana Research Group

Amanda Melo is a researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), where she collaborates with the Pastrana Group on sustainable materials for food packaging applications. She holds a Master’s degree as well as a PhD in Polymer Science and Technology, demonstrating expertise in polymer-based materials, processing, formulation, and advanced characterisation techniques. Her doctoral research concentrated on cellulose-reinforced polymer systems, utilising cellulose as a functional filler and implementing surface modification strategies to enhance particle–polymer matrix interactions. Her academic background integrates polymer science, materials engineering, nanotechnology, and sustainable packaging, with practical experience in conductive, piezoelectric, recycled, and nanocomposite polymer systems. Currently, her research is centred on the development of innovative packaging materials that exhibit improved performance, sustainability, and circularity.
