Dr Caroline Sanz Gomes joined the Medical Devices group at INL in December 2025 as a postdoctoral researcher working on the SMARTPACK project. She has a strong background in Analytical Chemistry and (Bio)electrochemistry, with expertise in the development of multidisciplinary (bio)sensing technologies for medical and environmental applications.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar, Brazil) in 2013, and her MSc and PhD degrees in Analytical Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil) in 2015 and 2020, respectively. From 2020 to 2024, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Materials Physics (NIMP, Romania). In 2022, she was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship, through which she led the development of multiplexed paper-based electroanalytical platforms for multiple myeloma care. She has authored 18 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals (10 as first author; h-index = 8), one book chapter as first author, and has presented her work at several national and international conferences.
