Daniel Barbosa has been a Business and Strategic Relations Officer at INL since June 2025, contributing to a range of activities that encompass project management, business development, and funding acquisition.

Daniel has extensive experience in reviewing, developing, implementing and mentoring R&D&I projects (+80) in several national/European funding programmes, having contributed to securing successfully funding of over 100 M€ in +50 project applications.  Prior to joining INL, he was the lead algorithm developer at Pulsify Medical, where he actively contributed to multiple novel, patent-protected innovations. Daniel has also served as an expert to the European Commission and other funding authorities, on assignments ranging from proposal evaluation, technical due diligence and project monitoring, thereby completing a 360-degree perspective across the innovation ecosystem.

Daniel has a double PhD. degree in Biomedical Sciences (KU Leuven) and Electrical Engineering (INSA Lyon), with specialisation in medical devices and 4D image processing. He has co-authored>80 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers, including award-winning contributions, 2 book chapters and 3 patents.
