Diogo Macedo Cachetas is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering and researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, and Environmental Health. His research focuses on developing machine learning and deep learning solutions for water quality monitoring, with particular emphasis on the detection of antibiotic residues and antimicrobial resistance in aquatic environments.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Minho. Throughout his career, he has contributed to multidisciplinary research projects spanning metagenomics, systems biology, nanotechnology, advanced materials, and environmental biotechnology. His expertise includes bioinformatics pipelines, genomic data analysis, Raman spectroscopy, chemometrics, and AI-driven data interpretation.

Driven by scientific curiosity and innovation, Diogo is committed to translating complex biological and environmental data into practical technologies that support public health, sustainability, and evidence-based decision-making. His goal is to contribute to the development of next-generation diagnostic and monitoring tools that address global environmental and biomedical challenges.
