João has been a Business and Strategic Relations Officer at INL since September 2023, focusing on business development, industrial liaison activities, and private and public funding acquisition.

As a former Consultant and a Research Funding Advisor in organisations such as Deloitte, KPMG, and Fraunhofer Portugal, João has specialized, since 2009, in supporting private and public organizations from different activity sectors and regions (i) in the definition and implementation of R&D and Innovation strategies supported by Portuguese and European funding programmes (e.g., Portugal 2020, PRR, Horizon Europe), and (ii) in the management/monitoring of projects funded under those programmes.

João holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) with a thesis focused on the study of lignin and hemicellulose degradation in the Kraft pulping process for paper production.
