Juan Pedro Merino Rusillo
PostDoc
Juan Pedro Merino joined the Medical Devices group at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory as a Research Fellow in September 2024, working under the supervision of Dr. Alar Ainla. As part of the FLUFET project, his research focuses on studying the behavior of graphene-based field-effect transistors (GFETs) in microfluidic cells.
Juan Pedro's expertise encompasses the functionalization, characterization, and bioapplications of carbon-based materials. During his PhD at CIC biomaGUNE and the Universidad del País Vasco, he worked on the covalent and non-covalent functionalization of graphene-based devices, including SGFETs and MALDI arrays, to develop biosensing technologies for early disease detection. In his postdoctoral research at KULeuven and BCMaterials, he continues to drive the standardization and optimization of biosensing devices, enhancing their design and performance.
