Luis Piedra is a Junior Research Fellow at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal. He joined Paulo Ferreira's research group Atomic Structure-Composition of Materials in 2024. His research focus on the characterization of 2D and 3D Dirac materials using advanced electron microscopy (TEM/STEM) for the development of novel Dirac cold-source field-effect transistors. 

Luis has completed his master's studies in Materials Science at Aalto University (Finland) and Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany). His master's thesis was carried out at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. He holds a bachelor's degree in Nanotechnology Engineering obtained at Yachay Tech University (Ecuador).
