Postdoctoral Researcher

Diéguez Research Group

Dr Milad Massoudifarid is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, where he develops and optimises microfluidic modules for complex biological sample preparation, including menstrual fluid processing, cellular isolation, and DNA recovery. His work focuses on integrated “sample-in, nucleic acid-out” microfluidic systems combining various techniques such as passive mixing, magnetophoresis-based purification, and automated fluid handling platforms. His research also involves CFD analysis, experimental validation, and performance evaluation of bioanalytical microfluidic systems.

He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University, specialising in microfluidics for biological sample preparation and bioaerosol science. During his doctoral and postdoctoral research, he developed continuous-flow magnetic bead-based microfluidic systems for DNA/RNA isolation and purification from bioaerosol samples. He also worked on corona discharge–based aerosol particle collection and multiphysics modeling using COMSOL. His research interests focus on applying microfluidic technologies to practical automation and diagnostic systems.
