Najib Ben Messaoud
Application & Systems Integration Engineer

Najib Ben Messaoud is an Application & Systems Integration Engineer in the Diéguez Research Group at INL. His current research focuses on developing an air-monitoring sensor for the early detection of pathogenic bacterial species.
His main research interests include the development and characterisation of new sensors and their applications in the food, health, and environmental areas. He received his Bachelor's in Physical Chemistry and MSc in Quantum Physics from the University of Monastir, Tunisia. He obtained his PhD in Engineering Physics, specialising in Nanotechnology Sciences, from the University of Sousse, Tunisia. During his PhD, he focused on the study and development of carcinogenic species microsensors by surface Nanoengineering. Then he occupied two postdoctoral positions at the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal) and the University of Evora (Evora, Portugal). Afterwards, he joined INL in 2021.
