Sofia Teixeira
Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr Sofia Ferreira Teixeira is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Spintronics in the R. Ferreira Research Group at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, currently working on Magnetic Tunnel Junctions for sensing applications. With a background in experimental condensed matter physics, she works at the interface between nanomaterials, magnetism and spintronics, combining thin-film growth, nanofabrication and advanced electrical/magnetic characterisation. Her research aims to explore how the electronic, magnetic and spin properties of quantum, topological and layered materials can be engineered for future low-power technologies,
She obtained her PhD in Physics in 2022 at IFIMUP, University of Porto (Portugal) and Imperial College London (UK), on topological insulators thin films for spinorbitronics applications. She then joined the Nanodevices group at CIC nanoGUNE (Spain) to work on layered magnetic materials. Before joining INL, she was an MSCA postdoctoral fellow working on low-symmetry materials at CIC nanoGUNE and ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Alongside her research, Sofia dedicates her time to Outreach and Dissemination, currently serving as the Young Officer of the European Magnetism Association.
