Yury Kolenko
Research Scientist Group Leader

Yury is a materials chemist whose research explores how the transport of charge, ions, spins, and molecules across complex interfaces governs chemical reactivity and energy conversion. By engineering defects, heterointerfaces, and nanoscale architectures, he develops functional materials that enable precise control of coupled transport and reaction phenomena under non-equilibrium conditions. His work seeks to establish the scientific foundations for next-generation technologies in sustainable energy conversion, carbon utilisation, and resource-efficient chemical manufacturing. Yury is a Tenured Group Leader at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, author of more than 155 scientific publications, inventor of multiple patented technologies, and coordinator of the Horizon Europe EIC Pathfinder project MemCat.
