INL Council Member Elvira Fortunato nominated Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Portugal

The scientist and member of the INL Council, Elvira Fortunato, was nominated by Prime Minister António Costa, Minister of Science, technology and Higher Education of Portugal.

Elvira Fortunato is a full professor and vice-rector of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, specializing in Microelectronics and Optoelectronics, and the paper transistor, as well as the first fully-transparent screen, are innovations for which the newest Minister is known. Her career of exceptional projection, inside and outside of Portugal and for the “remarkable contribution to the Portuguese scientific, technological and innovation development”.

INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory congratulates Elvira Fortunato on her appointment to the role of Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, and we wish her great success in this mission at the service of the country and the Portuguese scientific, technological, and innovation development.

The XXIII Constitutional Government will take office on March 30th, 2022.
