Iliona Wolfowicz

Project Management Officer

Sotomayor Research Group

I joined the Sotomayor Group as Project Manager in February 2025. I ensure our projects stay on track and resources are used effectively. I manage the full life cycle of European consortia, encouraging strong collaboration across teams and making sure our work moves forward smoothly and strategically. Behind the scenes, I take care of the group's administration so our researchers can fully dive into their work.

Background: Iliona began her academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Aveiro, followed by a Master's in Biomolecular Sciences from VUB in Brussels. She then pursued a PhD in Cell Biology through the GABBA program, conducting research at Heidelberg University in Germany. After completing her PhD, she co-founded a startup and successfully secured national funding through the Regional 2020 program. She later transitioned into consulting, working with a London-based venture capital firm, where she gained experience in project management and proposal writing for the EIC Accelerator under the EU Horizon funding scheme.
