The renowned European aeronautics group Airbus invited INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory for the workshop “CNT-Graphene @Airbus“, last 29th of November 2018 at its headquarters in Toulouse. INL is proud to be part of the group of guests gathered by Airbus, which included leading experts in this field. Ulf Hakanson, INL Intellectual Property Manager, presented our ongoing research efforts in 2D materials and future applications for these innovative materials.

INL showcases sensor technologies in Hong Kong

INL was at the 1st International Symposium on Micro/Nano Sensors for Healthcare and Smart City showcasing a collection of solutions developed at the Laboratory with distinct applications from IOT to medicine, health, and environmental monitoring, among others. The event, organised by the Hong Kong Science Park and IEEE Nanotechnology Council, brought together global professionals from academia and industry to discuss the latest emerging sensor technologies and its application to real-life. For INL, being part of the symposium was an outstanding opportunity to connect with strong international players and to present live demonstrators.

INL Head of Department appointed Nanotechnology Director within UT-Austin/Portugal Program

Paulo Ferreira, who leads the Advanced Electron Microscopy, Imaging and Spectroscopy at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, was recently nominated co-Director for the area of Nanotechnology at the University of Texas – Austin / Portugal Program. This initiative, which was renewed for another decade, intends to foster collaboration between Portuguese based research institutions and UT-Austin. This partnership has seen its funding increase three times since the beginning and it addresses knowledge areas where scientists and companies in Portugal will engage with the University and other institutions in Texas in multidisciplinary education, research and technology transfer and commercialization.

Former INL Director-General José Rivas wins “Salvador Velayos” Magnetism Award

As every two years, the Spanish Magnetism Club during its Annual Assembly held last November 30, 2018, at the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijon, University of Oviedo, has awarded the prestigious Magnetism Award “Salvador Velayos” to former INL Director-General José Rivas (2005-2014), currently Full Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This award is in recognition of the advances, and outstanding work in the field of Magnetism carried out by Spanish scientists and technologists, or foreigners working in Spain. The award ceremony will take place during next Annual Assembly of the Club, scheduled for November 2019 at the University of Pamplona, where José Rivas has been invited to give a lecture on a topic of his free choice.
