INL joins the European MATERIALS 2030 Manifesto

Today, 7 February 2022, INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory signed the Materials 2030 Manifesto an initiative presented to Commissioner Mariya Gabriel by:

  • Lars MONTELIUS, Director-General at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory

  • Alessandro CREMONESI, Executive VP, and Chief Innovation Officer STMicroelectronics N. V.

  • Nicole GROBERT, Professor, Associate Head of Department (Research), Department of Materials, University of Oxford, chair of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors

  • Peter GUMBSCH, Chairman of the Fraunhofer Group Materials, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.

  • Laurence PIKETTY, Deputy CEO, Commissariat à l‘énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA)

  • Kurt VANDEPUTTE, SVP Government Affairs Umicore NV / SA

  • Isabelle VÉRILHAC, President, The Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA) and their respective member organizations

With this action, the European Commission recognizes that Europe is strong in developing advanced materials, however new opportunities need to be seized to safeguard industrial leadership and strategic autonomy. The EU supports innovation for the design, development, testing, and upscaling of advanced materials to enable a vast array of applications and facilitate innovators to bring their disruptive ideas to the market and that new opportunities need to be seized to safeguard industrial leadership and strategic autonomy.
