EPPN First Wokshop gathers more than 140 participants in Brussels

In the aftermath of the 1st European Pilot Production Network Workshop that took place today in Brussels, INL thanks every single one that was part of this great opportunity to introduce the #EPPN and the planned CSA activities. We are proud to have had the privilege to talk and discussed with more than 140 participants from the EPPN CSA Consortium, EPPN External Advisory Board, H2020 and FP7 pilot projects, European Commission and the Nanosafety Cluster, Modelling and characterization Councils. The EPPN, led by INL, is a project striving to be instrumental as a coordination initiative and virtual marketplace, supporting the development of pilot production business networks, and facilitate the access for new costumers and potential investors, for better exploiting the opportunities offered from both EC and National activities. NanoGateway Project Kick-Off

The NanoGateway Project, a €1.013.028 pluri-regional project led by INL and funded by the INTERREG V-A España-Portugal (POCTEP) held its first project meeting jointly with the presence of regional representatives at INL on October 20th. The project aims at implementing a pluri-regional strategy and action plan to explore and unlock the potential of nanotechnology in the generation of smart growth and well-being by developing a new collaborative approach among all actors of innovation value chains. INL, as Coordinator of the project together with the support of regional representatives and institutions, intends to strengthen the capacity to develop excellence in R & I and collaborative RTD projects on nanotechnology-based solutions and products in benefit of the industry and society. INL and key stakeholders from the eight Spanish and Portuguese Cross-Border regions will work together on the establishment of a network in the area of nanotechnology, setting the pillars for excellent research and deployment of nanotechnologies, reinforcing the competitiveness of the industry and thus, the global competitiveness of the POCTEP regions. INL host the topical meeting on Single Quantum Emitters (SQE 2017)

The topical meeting SQE2017 brings together scientists from Israel, UK, Spain, Turkey, Portugal, Ukraine, Germany, France, Lithuania, and Italy to discuss novel technologies and findings in the context of Single Quantum Emitters, which form the foundation of the emerging second quantum revolution. Confirmed keynote speakers are: – Cristina Flors, IMDEA Nanoscience, Madrid, Spain – Ronen Rapaport, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel – Ruth Oulton, University of Bristol, UK – Alper Kiraz, Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey. The topics covered include but are not restricted to: – Impurities in 2D materials and crystals; – Single emitters and interactions with cavities, plasmonics, surface waves, meta-materials etc.; – Integration of single emitters in quantum information devices; – Single emitter sources and interdisciplinary applications e.g. in super-resolution microscopy for life science applications, etc. The Topical Meeting is organized by INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and with the support of the COST Action MP 1302 Nanospectroscopy. Open House at INL – September 24-25

The INL International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory reopens its doors for another festival dedicated to Science and Nanotechnology in particular. On September 24 and 25, INL researchers will show who they are and what they do. With fun and varied activities, scientists will explain where we can find solutions based on nanotechnology in the objects and situations of our everyday life. There will be activities for children and adults. The program includes lectures, demonstrations, scientific experiments, exhibitions and plays activities for the little ones. We promise to open a window on the daily lives of the many researchers working at INL from all over the world. Physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers … all together will explain to you how nanotechnology, this invisible giant, has the potential to improve our lives and make our planet more sustainable. INL Summit 2017 – The New Economy

Nanotechnology and the New Economy is the theme for this year’s edition of the INL Summit, the annual gathering where the impact of nanoscience and nanotechnologies is debated in Braga, North of Portugal. The event is organized by INL and will take place on October 19 and 20. Science not Fiction, Nanotechnology and the 4th Industrial Revolution, Turning Nanotechnology into Business, Nanotechnology, Arts, Design and Education, and a round table dedicated to Economic Environment, are the titles of the five sessions foreseen for the INL Summit 2017. INL hosts MNE2017 – September 18-22

INL will host the 43rd International Conference on Micro and Nanoengineering this September 18-22. For the 2017 edition, INL and IMB-CNM, CSIC, co-organiser of the conference have set-up an outstanding program, with very high-level key-note speakers on topics spanning from meta-materials to life-sciences and information technologies. MNE2017 will cover all the main current activities in micro/nanoengineering and for this, the organisation has restructured the conference in four areas: Novel Developments in Nano/Micro Fabrication Methods and processes; Fabrication and Integration of Micro/Nano-Structures Devices and Systems; Engineering for Physical and Chemical Applications; and Engineering for the Life Sciences. INL and Universidade do Minho launch the first Science Communication Course

Partners in many research projects, the INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and the University of Minho have joined forces to articulate their scientific activity, and have decided to promote their first Science Communication Course. The goal is to promote mutual understanding of each others challenges when addressing science communication from different points of view, in order to best serve science and society. This seminar is intended for scientists looking ways to improve their dialogue with the society, for journalists looking to engage in science journalism and for other communication professionals and students looking to improve their skills and knowledge. INL Summit 2016 – NanoDigest – October 18

Braga, 17/10/2016 – The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) is dedicating its 2016 annual Summit – NanoDigest – to the fascinating subject of food. Specialists from different areas will gather at INL in Braga this October 18th and 19th to discuss challenges & trends related to the whole food chain, with a special focus on food processing, food additives, food packaging, food quality and monitoring areas. The opening session, this Tuesday will be attended by the Spanish Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, Carmen Vela, and the Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, to present the National Perspective on Innovation and Food.
