Bernardo A. Nogueira is a Research Fellow at the Water Quality Group within the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL). Currently, he is involved in the Blue Bioeconomy Pact project, working under the supervision of Dr. Begoña Espina and Dr. Laura Rodriguez-Lorenzo.

Bernardo holds a BSc degree in Medicinal Chemistry (2013), a BSc degree in Chemistry (2014), and an MSc degree in Advanced and Industrial Chemistry (2016), all obtained from the University of Coimbra. In 2022, Bernardo completed his Chemistry PhD, specializing in Molecular Spectroscopy, under the supervision of Prof. Rui Fausto (University of Coimbra). As part of his doctoral studies, he spent one year as an Invited PhD Student at the Laboratory of Organic Functional and Nanostructured Materials in the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta," at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, where we worked under the guidance of Prof. Chiara Castiglioni. Bernardo has co-authored over 25 scientific articles and book chapters and actively participates in peer-reviewed publications, serving as a guest editor and reviewer for various journals.
