Cátia Freitas
Fellow
Cátia Freitas joined the Nanochemistry group at INL as a Research Fellow in May 2022. She is currently working on the SmartOxidation- Membranas funcionais para oxidação de poluentes emergente em águas residuais project, which aims to develop efficient technology for the removal of organic pollutants from ETAR effluents.
She holds an M.Sc. degree (2014) in Chemical Analysis and Characterisation Techniques attributed the Minho University, with the thesis held in collaboration with the Associated Laboratory LSRE/LCM group at the Faculty of Engineering in Porto University. She obtained her PhD at Keele University in collaboration with Johnson Matthey PLC (2020), focusing on the development of acidity characterisation of zeolite-based catalysts using in situ FTIR spectroscopy in combination with different probe molecules. She was a postdoctoral researcher (2020-2022) at CERENA group in Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon), during which she worked under the NEMOSINE project on the development of active acid absorbers based on the functionalised metal-organic framework for innovative packaging solutions for storage and conservation of 20th-century cultural heritage.
