Helder Avelar joined INL as a Research Engineer in August 2023. At INL, he is working with the Systems Engineering Group, focusing in digital integrated circuit design.

He graduated in Electrical Engineering – Electronics and Telecommunications at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil, in 2011. Received the MSc. degree in Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), Brazil, in 2015. Completed the IC Brazil training in digital integrated circuits design from NSCAD Microelectronics, Brazil, in 2016. Currently, he is also a Ph.D candidate at the Doctoral Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engeneering of University of Porto (PDEEC – FEUP), Portugal, working with beamforming architectures for satellite communications.
