Miguel Cerqueira
Staff Researcher

Miguel Cerqueira is a Staff Researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, where he works on developing new strategies for a more sustainable and healthy food system using new and innovative technologies and materials. He is involved in several projects as a principal investigator and team member.
Miguel holds a PhD degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Minho and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Minho in collaboration with the University of Vigo. During this period, he gained expertise in biodegradable films and coatings for food packaging, encapsulation of functional compounds using emergent encapsulation technologies, and the development and characterization of oleogels.
In 2014, he won the Young Scientist Award, and in 2018, he joined the list of "Highly Cited Researchers" presented by Clarivate Analytics.
