Omid Ranjbar

Fellow

Nanophononics

Dr Omid Reza Ranjbar-Naeini joined the Nanophononics group at INL in September 2023 to pursue his research in low-cost silicon Nano-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (NOEMS) interfaced with optical fibres and microwave electronics to enable network functionalities such as photonic local oscillators, frequency conversion, or electro-optical modulation. He works on the MUSICIAN project, which aims to showcase the disruptive potential of NOEMS technology in both 5G networks and the next-generation access networks required by Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Omid Reza Ranjbar-Naeini obtained his MSc in Photonics in 2013, focusing on micro silica sphere cavity optical fiber sensors for his thesis. Then, he pursued a PhD program in Photonics, specializing in optical fiber sensors, spectrometers, biochemical sensors, and optomechanical sensors. After completing his PhD in 2022, he followed his research career as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on quantum electro-Opto mechanics. In 2023, he joined the Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures group (P2N) as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Clivia M. Sotomayor Torres at the Institute Catalan of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Barcelona before joining INL.
