Ultrafast Bio- and Nanophotonics
Bejoys Jacob is a Research Fellow working at the Ultrafast Bio- and Nanophotonics Group under the supervision of Dr Bruno Romeira in the Department of Nanophotonics. His research work will be on the ChipAI project, which aims at developing the grounds for an extremely energy-efficient nanoscale photonics-enable technology for artificial neural networks using high-bandwidth neural-like spike-encoded signalling.
He completed his Integrated BSMS degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram. His master thesis was on Fabrication and Simulation of 1D and 2D photonic crystals. After his Master degree, Bejoys was selected for an internship at the Australian National University (ANU) for three months. His research work in ANU was to study the neuronal growth in nanoantennas. He was awarded the DST-INSPIRE Scholarship from the Department of Science and Technology under the Government of India during the five year BSMS course and was also awarded the Chennupati and Vidya Jagadish Scholarship for his visit to ANU.
