Leonardo Novo

Staff Researcher
Quantum and Linear-Optical Computation

Leonardo Novo is a staff researcher at the Quantum and Linear-Optical Computation group at INL. One of his main interests is studying how quantum devices may be used to speed-up challenging computational problems, such as the simulation of physical systems or other well-known problems in theoretical computer science. More recently, his research has focused on fundamental aspects of the physics of many photons and the application of quantum optical devices to quantum computation and simulation.

Leonardo completed his PhD in 2017 at the University of Lisbon with a thesis about quantum walks and their applications to quantum search algorithms and quantum transport problems. Afterwards, he joined the Centre for Quantum Information and Communication at Université Libre de Bruxelles as a postdoctoral researcher, a position he held until he joined INL in August 2022.
