Nadia joined INL in June 2019 as a Research Fellow. She will mainly perform research on X-Ray protective coatings and nano-formulations for space industry applications.
Nadia studied Chemistry (B. Sc., 2009) and Chemistry of Materials (M. Sc., 2011) at the University of Catania (Italy). As a PhD student, she joined the group of Prof. L. De Cola, first at the University of Münster, Germany, then moving with all the De Cola group to the University of Strasbourg, France (Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires) with affiliation also to the KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany. She obtained her PhD in 2015 with a thesis on ultrasmall nanoparticles (USNPs) for cancer imaging. Afterwards, she joined the group of Dr H. Stephan at the HZDR, Germany, as a Postdoctoral Researcher working on the surface modification of USNPs for cancer targeting and imaging. In March 2017 she joined the group of Prof. G. Cuniberti, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer. From October 2017 till May 2019, she was leading the Environmental Nanotechnology research line of Prof. Cuniberti group, developing nanomaterials for human and environmental health.
