Atomic Structure-Composition of Materials

Ricardo Sousa is a PhD student in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of Porto. His PhD work is supported by FERESPE – Fundição de Ferro e Aço, Lda, in a collaboration with University of Porto and University of Texas at Austin. He graduated from University of Porto in 2012, with a master degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. His work is focused on “Effect of Design on the Mechanical Properties of Cast Duplex Stainless Steel Components”. The merit of this project lies on the integration of data arising multiple variables affecting the quality and the final properties, such as the geometry, the chemical composition, the phase distribution, local texture and the distribution of thermal residual stresses.
