Piteira Group
The mission of the Piteira Group is to leverage nanotechnology developed at INL into formfactors compatible with applications across ICT, health, agri-food and environmental areas, providing leading edge Cyber-Physical Systems which are power-, size- and cost efficient. At its core, the group focuses on CMOS-integrated circuits technologies, microelectronics and biosensors, enabling the creation of advanced, compact, cost-efficient, and highly integrated analytical devices. Such applications demand a high level of miniaturisation and integration of sensors, microfluidics and readout electronics. These can only be achieved through custom-designed microelectronics solutions, with seamless integration of microfluidic systems and sensing technologies, with Smart System Integration strategies to reach the level of automation and portability, all three necessary to perform the full analytical cycle from sample preparation to analyte detection.
