INL hosts Portuguese Summit on Battery 2030

April 30, 2019

The INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, in conjunction with the Portuguese Government, is hosting the Portuguese Summit on Battery 2030 next May 31st.

Batteries are getting increasingly indispensable, and are a vital element in the energy transition to more sustainable sources. However, they do also have some challenges, leading to four main research areas included in the Battery 2030 Manifesto, a European initiative to put the continent at the forefront of the batteries technology. These four areas are accelerated discovery and design of battery materials and interfaces, smart sensing and self-healing functionalities, manufacturability, and recyclability.

Kristina Edström, the coordinator for the Battery 2030 Manifesto, will be at INL to launch the debate, which will count with the presence of several representatives from the Portuguese Government and companies related with the topic.
