Smart Technologies to fight Cancer, an event at INL

The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) hosts the Portuguese chapter of the HealthTECH World Cancer Day 2020, on the 3rd of February, starting at 9:00 am, at the INL Auditorium, in Braga, Portugal.

The event takes place within the framework of the celebrations of the World Cancer Day (February 4th) and aims to inform the public about the advances of nanotechnology applied to medicine and the ability to introduce innovative solutions in the early diagnosis of the disease to get treatments increasingly effective, less invasive and with a significant reduction in side effects.

The invited speakers for this conference will be Joana Ribeiro, an oncologist from the Breast Cancer Unit at Champalimaud Clinical Center, Vítor Rodrigues, President of the National Directorate Portuguese League Against Cancer, Maria José Oliveira, researcher and Group Leader i3S and INEB, and Sérgio Simões, Executive Chairman of Luzitin, a company that is exploring new ways to beat cancer using light.

The speakers will focus the interventions on the concrete successes achieved in medical care provided to cancer patients through the effective use of technology.

The initiative takes place within the scope of the European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine (ETPN-European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine) and has the support of five countries inside and outside Europe, in which different players involved in the fight against cancer simultaneously promote activities dissemination and awareness.

The Conference is open to public participation, with free entry and prior registration.

The event language will be Portuguese.
