The INL – Iberian International Nanotechnology Laboratory and the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde, through the Ministry of Education, Family and Social Inclusion, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the 16th of July, for the development of scientific and technical cooperation in the fields of Nanosciences and Nanotechnology.

This agreement, the first one between INL and an African Country of Portuguese Official Language, aims to support the definition of the Strategic Agenda for Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship in Cape Verde until 2030 and the management of innovation, according to the best practices in research and development organizations and universities.

Under this protocol, INL will also provide technical support for the creation of a reference High Technology Research Center in areas considered strategic by the Cape Verdean authorities – with emphasis on robotics, marine biology, agriculture and food – as well as the development of traineeships programs for students from Cape Verde at INL.

As part of this initiative, INL Director-General, Lars Montelius, was in contact with several political and academic leaders in the country, namely the Minister of Education, Maritza Rosabal, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Cape Verdean government, and the Rectors of the Universities of Cape Verde.
